WOMEN’S RIGHTS ACTIVIST

“She is working for the sisters in the society with pride, while building a name for herself. Her courage and confidence can be an inspiration for just about anybody.”
– Uma Bista

Gauri, a woman human rights defender, is the secretary of the Reflect Circle Women’s Group and a member of the Women Human Rights Forum in Dipayal Silgadhi Municipality-7 in Doti district, one of the more remote areas of Nepal. She is a widowed mother of two and a survivor of domestic violence. She has been at the forefront of the local COVID-19 response, creating awareness and leading efforts to address physical and mental well-being in the community.

She received training on human rights advocacy for women and excluded groups through the UN Women project titled Enhancing Access to Justice for Women, which she says has strengthened her capacity to support and counsel survivors of violence.
